
Biography
Kaeden Derksen
Kaeden is an actor, musician and teacher. He holds a BFA, Specialized in Applied Theatre. He has taught English and Theatre in Canada, Korea and currently in Taiwan. He acts, directs, composes, sings, facilitates and more when required

University
During his time in Victoria attending University, Kaeden often rehearsed three or more student projects concurrently. He wrote and directed The Whole Shebang and composed music for multiple productions.
Kaeden's university experience culminated with the production of the family musical, TRUNK!, which went on to win multiple awards and be reproduced five times between 2012 and 2018.
His passion for theatre as an education tool was best seen co-directing and producing the cowboy musical, Back Home Again in Indiana, with out-patients at the Eric Martin Pavillion mental health hospital.
After School
Kaeden's final semester of university was abroad. He participated in a two month program in Tamil Nadu, India that aimed to create a self-sustaining theatre company at the Tamarakulam Elder Village. He composed the background music for a community theatre piece and facilitated workshops that brought elders, young students and local directors together.
Following a year of adventure and backpacking, Kaeden began his teacher career in Korea. While there he found his passion for Shakespeare in a production of The Taming of the Shrew.


POST PANDEMIA
TIME TO REDEFINE
While working as an actor in Toronto and touring TRUNK!, Kaeden began suffering from a long-term injury.
The injury led to Kaeden returning to teaching by moving to Taiwan.
Since moving in 2019, Kaeden has gradually rehabilitated his shoulder and proudly re-debuted as a performer.
